I know it’s only February, but there’s no snow on the ground so as far as I’m concerned, it’s spring. And nothing says spring quite like fresh green plants do! My thumb is not green AT ALL, but these little guys only require like 3 drops of water every few days (or whenever I remember). AND, they are less than $2 a piece! But they were lacking the particular level of spunk that I look for in all of my two dollar plants. They needed a make-over.

And just like everything else in my life, I thought they could use a touch of gold. So, I strolled into Michael’s not knowing that my life would be forever changed by what I found that day. But there it was…Image may be NSFW.

(insert a chorus of angels singing) Liquid. Gold. Leaf. Now, nothing in my life is safe. I might even change my name to King Midas. But, I digress.
For one of the pots I wanted a simple triangle, so I used some painters tape to create the shape. I sprayed the parts that I wanted gold with a clear coat first. If you don’t use a clear coat to seal the pot, the gold leaf peels right off. Image may be NSFW.

This stuff is seriously amazing. It goes on SO easy and dries super fast! The bottle looks tiny, but a little goes a loooooong way.
For the next pot, I wanted the inside and the very top rim to be gold, so I taped the whole pot except the top rim, sprayed it with the clear coat and got to painting.

For the third one, I just did brush strokes all around the pot, starting from the bottom and stopping about half way up.
This is one of the easiest projects I’ve done, but by far one of my favorites! They turned out great if I do say so myself. Image may be NSFW.
