These Easy DIY Dollar Store Halloween Potion Bottles are SO simple to make and can be used to decorate just about anything.  If you’ve got something that is needing a little something Halloweeny and witchy, these are your gals, your best friends, your 3 musketeers.

If you’re  anything like me you spent a solid 5 years watching Practical Magic and believing you were a witch just as much as  Sally and Gillian. Obviously I couldn’t be as great as the aunts, I was still in training, DUH.  I was a newby and that’s why my spells and potions didn’t always go as planned.

I took it as far as creating my own potions with basically anything I could find under the bathroom sink. No really. I use to create potions all the time. It was actually frightening. Now, looking back on these times, we can all just be glad that my house didn’t explode and everyone survived. Although, there may or may not have been a time where calling poison control was not out of the realm of possibilities, but we’ll leave that story for another time.

Now, moving on… if I would have had these Easy DIY Dollar Store Halloween Potion Bottles to mix up all my concoctions, I would have felt extra witchy.

These Easy DIY Dollar Store Halloween Potion Bottles are so inexpensive and simple to make!

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own witchy potion bottles:

  • Glass bottles
  • Black chalk spray paint
  • Little skeletons
  • Plastic bugs
  • Glue gun

Aside from the black chalk paint (which you can find HERE), we found everything else at our local dollar store.

For starters, find a space where it’s okay to get a little over spray of paint on (Cardboard is out best friend, really. Kari’s driveway and husband may not agree… but they’ll be fine with us living this painted life someday). Give the bottles just one quick coat of chalk paint. Please, for everyone’s sanity just let the paint dry! (I’m looking at you Kari.)

For the first two bottles, once the paint is dry, decide the layout of where the bugs and skeletons and/or skeleton parts are going to go. Heat up the glue gun, and begin gluing the creepers and the crawlers or dismembered skeleton parts onto the bottles.

Give your bottles another coat and again I REPEAT, let the effin’ paint dry, Kari! Don’t ruin your DIY Potion Bottles now, they’re on the home stretch!

Now, if the decision was made to not paint one of the skeletons, like us, simply add him to the bottle. And there it is folks, you’ve seen it here first… Your Easy DIY Dollar Store Halloween Potion Bottles are complete and ready to add that witchy vibe to any space you have in mind.
