Hey guys! Yesterday, my daughter and I whipped up this cute DIY wall hanging from a dollar store rug. I love a good dollar store DIY. Who doesn’t??
Seriously one dollar for this adorable rug?!
I had some pink tassels and some green rope left over from some previous projects, so the only other thing I needed was a wooden dowel.
First, I just looped the tassels (evenly spaced) around the bottom of the rug. The rug is loosely woven so it was easy to go in between the pieces to add the tassels.
Next, I threaded the thin rope loosely around the top of the rug. Like this…
Once the rope was threaded through the entire top of the rug, I slid the dowel through the loops, made sure they were evenly spaced and pulled them snug.
I took the excess rope on each side and tied a knot to hang. I wrapped the ends around the knot and added a dab of hot glue the secure them.
Such a fun little DIY that only cost me a couple dollars! There were so many color options, you could make one for almost any space! How cute would it be to add beads or pom poms to the bottom instead of tassels?!
Craft or die, my friends!
